"Sailing" Billboards with 3D Effect Make Waves on San Diego Freeways

Local drivers get a unique preview of the nautical-themed event

August 26, 2010 — San Diego, CA — Two "sailing" billboards with an adventurous 3D twist are currently greeting motorists along busy, local freeways. The identical displays tout the upcoming 2010 Port of San Diego Festival of Sail, which happens September 2-6. Each billboard is distinguished by a white billowing sail that emerges from the corner of the 48' x 14' flat surface to deliver a natural, windswept 3D effect. MJE Marketing Services, an award-winning creative agency in Mission Valley, conceived and designed the advertisements, drawing inspiration from the historic tall ships imagery associated with the annual Festival of Sail.

One of the "sailing" billboards is located along the 163 North, facing south, at the approach of the 52 freeway. The other is at the 94 West, facing east, at Winnett Street. Both advertisements will continue at their locations until the final day of the festival.

The 2010 Festival of Sail is hosted by the Maritime Museum of San Diego, and will transform the North Embarcadero on San Diego Bay into a nautical theme park. More than twenty tall ships and other fascinating vessels from around the world will visit San Diego from September 2-6, 2010. Additional information can be found on the Maritime Museum's website at www.sdmaritime.org.
